I would say there´s no "right/wrong" way, there is, it works both ways. Depending on context.
But I think it wort noticing the usage of THAT/THIS. THAT meaning you are keeping a certain distance in a physical or non-physical way (in an abstract way, I mean).
Other thing to bear in mind is if you already cited one opinion, concept or thing beforehand you can replace it for THAT afterwards.
So, that/this way would mean, "desta forma | maneira | modo | jeito, ...." using THAT or THIS. Altough if you want a, say, plain translation you can use THAT for desta and THIS for dessa. (just like in our Portuguese usage, keeping the distance physical or not (in a concrete or abstract way, I mean.)
As for "IN" I don´t see any problem with using it or not, so
any of the forms "(in) that|this way" would be acceptable in most cases without harm to the meaning.
Anyway, I am a basic learner, so let´s wait for more comments. Regard this just as a pointer then.
