Assunto:  pronoun she for Ship

Mensagem:  Hi ,
According to Longman dictionary the pronoun she when used to reffer to a ship or vehicle is old-fashioned :

2 old-fashioned used to refer to a country, ship, or vehicle that has already been mentioned:
She was carrying over 1500 passengers.

so, if it is old-fashioned should I use the pronoun it to refer to a ship ? I've always used the pronoun she for ship ....Am I outdated ?
