Mensagem:  Ok, that's the word I was looking for, although it's not necessarily a bribe
for something illegal... because the situation I'm talking about is not a criminal one,
 it's more like some kind of subliminal compensation for something that has long been
ignored, but at the same time, nobody says you were given something because of that
 matter, but you know you don't always need to see the whole picture. Maybe there's not
a more specific word for such a situation, but "hush money" certainly fits the context in more general way.
