Assunto:  What is the best way to translate "compromise
 
Mensagem:  Hello fellow posters.

In the following sentence, if the idea was to be translated into Portuguese, what is the best way to translate the word compromise?


"
a 4% content of chromium is, as a general rule, exhibits the best compromise between toughness and hardness".

I´ve seen people use the word "compromisso" in Portuguese, but I´m not quite sure this word can actually be used this way.
