Mensagem:     Aman we have such usage in Portuguese, if you say "choveu muito ontem." it might have been a drizzle that lasted all night, or maybe it was a downpour for two hours, the effect on people´s lives that live in a makeshift hut in a hill would be the same.
   That is, "choveu muito" can´t convey the ammount, but if you think hard you conclude that a big downpour for two or three hours or a sleet or rain for three days non-stop, would make the same effect.    So, it is not about double usage here, I think, it could be about the minutes of our language, perhaps.
