I've never heard proFEEssor. The normal pronunciation is proFEHssor.
Sometimes you will hear "police" pronounced "POH-lees" instead of "poh-LEES. It seems cultural, not regional. I remember the word "heroin" was pronounced "hero-in" by most people, but criminal/street people would call it "her-ON".
Also, if the professor has a doctorate, I would expect to hear him/her called "Dr. Jones" and not "Professor Jones". No special title is used with a master's. He/she is Professor Green or Mr./Miss/Ms/Mrs. Green. Or he may ask students to call him/her by a first name: Bob, Jane.
