Mensagem:  From a listening or listener's perspective, I guess native speakers see (hear, listen to) things as a whole. Going along with Josi's examples, which are very very insightful, it seems like native speaker listen to compounds as a whole, not separate units, in other words they listen to clusters "savings-account" and not savings .... account. I'm guessing. Acho que sou capoeirista do inglês, not a judoca, or maybe English language MMA - just a metaphor of mine, poorly made, you guys know !!
