| Mensagem: | Rodolfo, Just to phase our conversation in I think you could say that: - Elementary students will call their teachers "teacher" sometimes, because they tend to act more naturally and the little ones are more dettached from a set of naturally stablished rules. - College students (specially in Junior college) will call their teachers by their first names - University or 4 year-college students will tend to call their professors Dr. Such and Such - Usually students at continuing education courses who are facilitated by instructors and facilitators instead of teachers or professors will call their instructors by their firstnames. - I've seen, on a personal basis, adult students calling their teachers "teacher" and it happened many times but it was in the ESL enviroment, and it was in the U.S.A. but the students were from Latin America (mainly Mexico and Brazil) Dean P.S.:I am not a native speaker, according to my TOEFL score I am a near native speaker. But according to my good sense I still have lots to learn. |
