Mensagem:  How true! Latin American university students do write far more elaborately (and sometimes unnecessarily) longer essays than do their American university peers. You will notice that on any perspective and on all fields of study. Even a sober aspiring, number-oriented engineer will fatten his school essay a bit. Back here in the school hospital I work for I have seen incredibly "fat" medical reports. Incidentally I have never attended lengthy, sleep-inducing speeches on the side effects of losing one's little finger to a chopping machine. But the hospital's grade-grabbing students will. Or have to for the most part. Take a look at this piece of writing. A native English-speaking student certainly would have written it in fewer words and still get a lot less stressful or meatier message across.

I surely should not take the reader's mind for granted.
