It was a warm day in a remote South American republic. Standing ready for execution by firing squad are three unlikely individuals, Bill Clinton, Al Gore and George W. Bush.
Bill Clinton is first, and marches bravely to the whitewashed wall. He faces the soldiers, who carefully take aim. Bill waits, and then at the top of his voice yells, “EARTHQUAKE!” There is much confusion amongst the squad, who dive for cover, Bill quickly climbs the wall and departs to freedom.
The would-be executioners reform in a line when they realise that the only thing quaking was themselves, and Al Gore bravely takes up his position, watching carefully as the soldiers take aim. Just before fingers tighten on triggers, Al yells “VOLCANO!” The soldiers run across the yard to the safety of the barracks, Al legs it over the wall, and the only one left is George.
Now, he has been watching carefully, and thinks to himself, “There’s a pattern here. I shout out the name of a natural disaster, they all run, and I can escape.” So he strolls nonchalantly up the wall, and waits for the squad to take aim. Just as they are ready, George yells with all the might he can muster, “FIRE!”
