Johannes, yes, "to which" does refer to the environment. Perhaps the wording needs some parsing and vice versa. Odd though it may have seemed, I just wanted to establish a comparison in which you could equate the fast-pace of a hectic (bustling) big city environment to the one to which a mixer grinder would probably subject all the cereals and fruits it got its rotating blades on.
Those eating all the cereals and fruits mixed and ground would not get any fatter than the sh*thouse spider I mentioned a thread or two earlier.
