Mensagem:  Your daughter will be very lucky to be that rare creature - a true native bi-lingual. The trick, obviously will be to achieve equal weight in each language. I agree that you are on the right track with not practicing your non-native Port with her, and vica-versa  for your  wife with english.  However, if she is being raised and schooled in Brazil, it seems inevitable that she will end up with a stronger base in port, especially in literature.  But it may be that true equality is impossible.  I believe studies have shown that native bi-linguals tend to favor one over the other, and  will be better-educated and lettered in one or the other. Which may be a good and natural thing as there is the open question of whether native bi-linguals achieve as much literacy as they could have in either  language otherwise.
