PP, I went to the website. The account was written by either Paolo or Lilli. Since Thomas is written of in the third person, clearly he didn't write it. Neither Paolo nor Lilli are names commonly associated with native speakers of English. The writer had a decent vocabulary, but the writer also made numerous mistakes that a native would not be expected to make. (One example that comes to mind is "sailing" instead of "sailboat". A native would not say such a thing. He may make other mistakes, but not that one.)
What I'm saying, PP, is that the term "sneaking" is misused. It doesn't communicate what the writer seems to think it does.
