Mensagem:  The adjective "empanado" could be translated as "battered." For example, chicken nuggets are battered pieces of chicken. I think the word "battered" is used more often for liquid coatings, like cornmeal batter, whereas the word "breaded" is used for dry coatings, like breadcrumbs. It's similar to the difference between "à milanesa" and "empanado," in Portuguese.
