I'd probably erase those neutral-gender terms that I believe came with the feminist movement. 
businessperson, layperson,...

It does't seem to me derogatory to call a woman "layman" for example and if we compare this to the latin languages where even inanimated objects have a "gender" you realize how useless it is.
