Mensagem:  I very much doubt this 'th' stuff - there are two distinct 'th' sounds in standard English - e.g. a mouth (noun); to mouth (verb) - does the theory apply to both?

I used to hear people saying the past perfect / pluperfect would disappear - I had gotten used to that....

As for ED - English is paired down to its basics - but 't' and 'd' are not sounds that can be lengthened / extended - hence to make it clear you need to insert the vowel in between and say 'id/ed' - otherwise skip it

Given that English is already so functional and minimalist it is unlikely to lose anything much - I would imagine that the cumbersome and awkward romance language have got a lot more flab to get rid of
