Hi,

There was  a discussion at my children school about to celebrate or not Halloween . The English teacher and the children want to prepare a party , but some parents are against it . They argue that Halloween celebrates the devil and its origins is something related to horror things . Some also questioned why don't we celebrate Braziliam folkclore caracters like Saci, Curupira, Mula sem Cabeça, etc .I don't know its origin and never lived in US to realise how it is really celebrated .The only thing I know is throught films and it seems to be very fun for the children . Do the films really show how it is celebrate ,I mean, I always see people having fun and children asking for treat .Is it true that American Schools are discoraging children to celabrate it ?

As a parent I'd like to support the English teacher to celebrate Halloween ,I  think that any language should be taught not only about grammar and vocabulary , but its culture is important .

What do you think about this issue ?
