Mensagem:  You're right. "She asked that I stay with her" is the correct form. The subjunctive used to be common in Old English, but it lost importance over time. Today, it is mostly used in fixed expressions and sentences that express wishes or hypothesis. The sentence I mentioned is an example of "mandative subjunctive," which is a case of present subjunctive.
