"Confusion"? Fran, esta falando portugues? Quer dizer "problem", ne?
I heard recently that "Outdoor" is a brand name. That would explain why it is heard in Brazil to mean billboard. It´s like saying ¨Coke¨ instead of ¨soft drink". I cannot think of the writer´s name, but the author of "Como Nao Aprender Ingles" has some great examples in his books of English words that mean one thing in Brazil and something quite different to a native speaker of English. I remember my surprise at the number of definitions for "box" in Portuguese. Some include motorcycle sidecar, shower stall, parking space, etc.
Michaels? Was that the writer´s name? I exchanged several letters with him around 2002-2003. One night in Chapeco, I was mistaken for him when I visited an English class at the local university. I told him about it, and he said that surely I was a most handsome fellow. hahaha
