The "and" particle joins the two verbs as if they were only one verb
I will go and do (is the same as I will go and I will do)
When you tell someone to go do something you are softening the imperative if you use and in between verbs for that imperative.
Will you please go [to your room] and study?
I know I am not specifically answering your question, but it can as well be part of the answer you're looking for.
I think it is a good idea if you "go and look" for better answers.
