main difference "injury" is a noun and "wound" is a noun, adjective, and verb depending on how you use the word.

wound -noun / adjective / and verb

His leg has an open wound
He left the field wounded
He was wounded in the football field


injure - verb

             He was injured in the game

injury - noun

             John Doe also returned from a back injury, scoring 17 points in 27 minutes
