"Double two double four two five double five" would drive me nuts.
I do not know about today, but in the past many small towns had six-digit phone numbers. Mexicans in the USA would give phone numbers in two-digit groups. This would leave one number (the last digit) hanging in space.
924-01-00 would become 92-40-10-0. A small difference? It is not small if you are used to hearing something different. Or how about Nine hundred twenty four thousand, one hundred?
