Assunto:  burning the midnight oil?
 
Mensagem:  Fran, "mister" is often used while expressing anger.  "Look, mister, get your feet off the couch this instant!"  A parent talking angrily to his child might call him "mister", but never "sir".

How are you, Mr. Jones?
How are you, sir?
How are you, mister?  Yes, you may hear it, but it sounds very "caipira".
