Keep going on listening and you'll see how easy it gets. I used to use those Motorola walkie-talkie at work. The security guard was all day long playing with that damn thing.
"Sidney please go to the 4th floor over", one day I was listening some music and he asked the cleaner to go to the reception on the 2nd floor. She was a born Canadian who didn't get the message at first. I removed my earphone I told her "they need you on the 2nd floor reception."
From that day on, I know my listening skills were getting better. I think from all my English skill (many that I have to work on still) the best is listening. You mentioned about movies with subtitles. I'd say keep the subtitles for while but after force your mind and ears to listening. Once you're reading you're not paying too much attention on listening...
