Which one is right: (1) "the girl I went out yesterday was great", (2) "the girl I went out with yesterday" or (3) "the girl with whom I went out yesterday"?
(1) To answer that question, we would need to see the girl and, just to be sure, I think we should date her. The grammar, however, is wrong. You go out with a girl, but you do not go out a girl. Do you see the difference? Está pensando em "namorar"? Em portugues é possível mas nao em ingles. Poderia dizer, porém, "The girl I dated last night..."
(2) Informal and widely used but not correct. with + whom, with + who
(3) Formal and quite correct but you should not expect to hear it in normal conversation. It´s okay for you to be right and your listeners to be wrong.
