Mensagem:  Thanks, guys.

I had not been in Nicaragua since 1971.  The population had tripled in those years.  I was finally able to follow the Rio San Juan from Lake Nicaragua to the coast.  (My third attempt.)   Just beautiful.  I fell in love with El Castillo, a town of just over one thousand on the southern bank.  The town of San Juan (also called San Juan del Norte and San Juan de Nicaragua) was a disappointment, but it had been burned to the ground several times (last about 1980), and it is in its third location.  What can one expect?  Things are still a bit primitive in that corner of the country.  Some towns are still reached only by boat.  I saw many old friends I had not seen for 15-39 years.  Oh, and I visited the island of Ometepe.  It was quite interesting to hear stories of the Revolution and its aftermath.
