Assunto:  Verb Tenses
 
Mensagem:  "She had been pregnant before." Means that it's not the first time.
so:
She had been pregnant before I traveled.
"at some time in the past, before he had left, she had been pregnant". (2, 4,..years ago? once, twice,...?)
Even grammatically correct, sounds kind of confusing, ambiguous to me.
If it was me, I'd write this way:
When I left/traveled she was 5,6,...months pregnant.
She was 5,6,... months pregnant when I traveled to France
