Assunto:  To out someone

Mensagem:  Possibly, "to out" is merely a shortened version of "to rat out" (denunciar).  It is not limited to accusations of homosexualities, but is used in reference to any kind of accusation (theft, infidelity, cheating, etc.).  Or so says my informant...  I won't out him by giving you his name.

to rat on, to rat out = to accuse of something
