In the USA it's very common to call the newspaper simply "the paper".

The job of the paperboy has been replaced by adults.  One adult with a vehicle (often a pickup) can do more work than a dozen boys.  The hours are terrible (usually starting well before dawn) and the pay is low, but it's probably better for everyone:  customers and boys.  Sometimes two adults work together, one drives and the other throws the newspaper from the vehicle to the residence.
