Assunto:  gerund and The /I/ and /i/
 
Mensagem:  When I look for the word "Swimming" for example, the dictionaries use the following phonetic symbols: /ˈswɪm.ɪŋ/

but when I listened to the word it sounds to be more /i/ than /I/ ... as you said, I guess there's kinda of a neutralization... but it is almost unnoticeable!!!
