Hi Dale,
 
Well pointed, you mentioned about Ebonics....there was a big discussion in US not long ago about that if I’m not wrong.
Especially in school where some kids (black) were having problems with spelling and writing in order the way they talk.
 
I'm learning some Italian now...and it's just crazy how some words are pretty much the same in Portuguese, French or Spanish.
Where it really changes: pronunciation.
 
Pronunciation is something trick. I have some coworkers here that have some accent in their English but just
because of the family/environment, all of them are born Canadians. As for me, I get all kind of guesses… “Are you French?”, “Are you Italian?”
“Are you Spanish?”. It’s funny to see people trying to guess as I speak. A mid-Atlantic accent…LOL
