I think translating is a tough task because those who want or need a translation may have an overall familiarity with the source language, thus desiring to get an almost literal translation as the end result of the translation process.
In some ways, yes. In some cases, I would say that they would should have, or would be great if they had/would be prefferable.
But you know, we live in a less than perfect world and language studies in Brazil is only beggining...
