     Yeah, and now and then somebody will call it "tin foil", tough meaning "alluminum foil. That´s because it was made of that material before their alluminun counterpart.

     Of course, alluminum is more to the point, but people still use  the "tinfoil" word around.

When someone uses the term tin foil, that person is almost always talking about aluminum foil. Tin foil is an old term, and it has carried into the present where it is frequently used to mean aluminum or kitchen foil.
