      It makes lots of sense to me, Dale, certainly it comes from that one.
      It´s interesting how the dynamic of change comes into play when merchandise comes from a country to the other. This way we say that Kia Best A van was launched into Brazil market in early 1985, people soon gave her a Brazilian name "besta" (mula; ou também pejorativo "pessoa ignorante, burro, tolo").

     Soon people fed up with somebody driving one into that traffic would said that "it had to be a "besta"..."  (tinha que ser uma besta!), wich could be understood in two different ways...
