Something that envelops; a wrapping.
"Ambient" is an adjective, meaning something that envelops, a wrapping.
It´s more about something at a given place and at a particular time.
It´s usually about the perception of an enclosed and limited space. Most of times, it have to do temperature or sound and with sensory (body) perceptions.
Relating to the immediate surroundings of something: the liquid is stored at below ambient temperature
Other examples: -Apply coating only when ambient temperature is above 40 degrees ºF.
-Ambient lighting comes from all directions, while directional and positional lighting come from one source.
-Air is exhausted to the surrounding ambient air.
All of the above monitoring is done for the purpose of determining the quality of the ambient air in the state so that programs can be developed to target the appropriate source categories for emission reductions.

The natural environment, encompasses all living and non-living things occurring naturally on Earth or some region thereof. It is an environment that encompasses the interaction of all living species. The concept of the natural environment can be distinguished by components:
Complete ecological units that function as natural systems without massive human intervention, including all vegetation, microorganisms, soil, rocks, atmosphere and natural phenomena that occur within their boundaries.
Universal natural resources and physical phenomena that lack clear-cut boundaries, such as air, water, and climate, as well as energy, radiation, electric charge, and magnetism, not originating from human activity.
The natural environment is contrasted with the built environment, which comprises the areas and components that are strongly influenced by humans. A geographical area is regarded as a natural environment (with an indefinite article), if the human impact on it is kept under a certain limited level (similar to section 1 above).
