In modern English would be "if you want a miracle"...
Generally along with some statement following, e.g. "if you want a miracle, then, you have to work for it/you have to ask/to have faith etc."
If you want a miracle - then Saint Paul tells us we must believe we are going to receive one. What better way to jump start our faith than to start "Thanking God ahead of Time!"
This thanking thing, reminds us of the Bible passage (Luke 17) in which ten men with leprosy were themselves cleansed, all had a miracle worked in them but imagine how many came back to thank! Thing is, miracles everyone wants...but to thank!
