Dale, the "hiding" part, it does suggest a place where it is so conspicuous that you may think "how could I not found it before? it was right in front of my nose and I had not seen it!
Or it emphatizes the exact opposite, that it is in plain sight, not hidden at all? (I mean the hiding is only for effect)
