Sara, in these (our) times people use both words interchangeably. Well, I like the definition given in this site:

So, for the time being netbooks would be the ones that are bigger than your hand, but it can fit in it; generally netbooks have only some few features, Windows and Internet access, very simple. Notebook would be bigger, tough not the size of a laptop. Indeed a Laptop would be the size of the first portable laptops that we knew until recent years, say, the 90´s.
A laptop by the above definition is "a portable, but you problably would not want to go everywhere with one all day long." quite acurate definition!
By the way, sometime ago, PCs where classified into the two categories: - Desktop would be the ones that would sit on a table; and - Laptop that could sit on the lap of the operator. Good ole time in wich you could see a computer and know how to describe it! hehe. ;-)
