Assunto:  Farinha lactea/ Sabão em pó

Hi Angel, in fact after a thorough search about the matter (cereals and baby formulas

are a vast and colourful market in the US!), I found something interesting and valuable to us.

Indeed "Wheat Flour Cereal" would be what we were looking for.

Here we see the "farinha láctea" brand in Portugal.  It´s named there Nestlé Baby Cérélac.

Here they import it from Portugal and rebrand it to "Nestle Cerelac - Wheat Flour Cereal."  Triunfo is the Food and Grocery importer company in the United States, precisely in Newark - NJ.

c) Nestle Cerelac Farinha Lactea, 500 g. Product is labeled entirely in Portugese. Prior to distribution, Triunfo place a label on the product - Nestle Cerelac Wheat Flour Cereal, Net. Wt. 17.64oz., Nutrition Facts and ingredients are listed in English. Product of Portugal . Recall # F-184-9.

Now Angel, I wouldn´t be so alarmed by the news, you know we must be way more edgy about caustic soda (Sodium Hydroxide) and other products added to our UHT milk cartons sold here some time ago.  Since then I think we can stomach everything!

Maybe it is all about economy, the country is getting more strict about imports...

As you can see they used the very same allegation (remains of pesticides tiny particles) to recal the same product from Portuguese Nestlé before.

That´s more, there was another recall/withdrawal like this on November 03, 2008 and here we are with another one, looks like a remake!

Anyway, take heed of what the kids body is trying to say, if you notice anything different go to see the doctor, and I am not speaking just about this particular product/food, one can have serious problems even eating peanuts or shrimps (there are people that are alergic to them)!

Well, for the time being you can put wheat flour cereal in your shopping list, altough if you wish, take some advice from an expert.  I am not worried the least about

the intake of cereal, but the lack of money to buy it, hehe.

On the other hand, it´s a growing concern in Brazil about our waistline, people are getting fatter and fatter, this is what we must bear in mind when we are going shopping.  Here goes a site worth reading:

          "Brazil’s unwanted growth"

Read about Nestlé, Coca-Cola, and don´t miss McDonalds either.

Congratulation on your care about your kids, it´s very good a character trait in a mother!
