I think Dale was thinking about how words get to the room, Deiviss. I mean, sometimes some words are not usually found here, "extirpate" exists but I would say that it is used more in, say, churches or by religious people or bible readers. In short, sounds like it being used mostly by a selected group.
I think it got him in a unexpected way, he he. He would expect "wipe out/exclude" or other. Thus, it wasn´t a critique or something, and I think from your answer you understood and took it lightly, he he. BTW, congratulations on your repertoire or words and thanks for sharing it with us, this way we will build up our vocabulary as well.
