to affix = to attach to something else to fix = to make permanent, repair, put, etc. A tag usually has a string or wire that is used to affix it to something, and a label often relies on glue. An exception is at the airport where they put TAGS on your luggage. At the office you use LABELS to identify fiiles. Please fix the lights. = (1) Please put up the lights on the tree, the roof, etc. (2) The lights are not functioning properly, and I want you to do something to make them work. |
