Yeah, just like Dale have explained:


I was asleep at ten o´clock last night*
I was asleep by ten o´clock last night*


*You don't know when you went to sleep, but you were sleeping at 10:00 pm..
I was fell asleep around/about ten o´clock last night


Now your way of saying that:


  To me, "I slept at 10 o'clock" is weird because SLEEP is not the same as FALL ASLEEP... You probably felt asleep at 10p.m., but slept all night, not only at 10 o'clock.


So, you re-explained in other words, but just the same.  Nobody drops asleep on spot at some exact time of the day/night.  Hence, the two phrases given by Dale would convey what the guy meant (or wanted to).
