to gun for = to go after, seek, look for (The original meaning was "to
look for and kill" and is often heard today in Western films.) the glitter = fame, fortune, recognition, reputation, etc. ("The glitter" is often used in relation to movie stars, famous rock musicians, etc.) All my life I was swinging for the fence, (baseball term) I was looking for the triple, (baseball term) Never playing good defence (baseball/basketball term) Gunning for the glitter, Every hot and heavy hitter, (baseball term) She was never really there so I couldn't really get her |
