How would you have "ele preferiu" in the past? He chose/preferred not to...? Does "He´d rather not say anything then" sound ok? I heard it on a TV commercial (link below) and thought it was kinda weird to use " ´d rather " to past events. Am I wrong? There are so many strange translations there. Like, when "Monica" says "Planalto Central", she does not refer actually to "Central Highlands", does she? Isn´t it politics, after all?
