Their reasoning is not our reasoning. The surname is simply a second name and can be ANYTHING, related or unrelated to you, your ex, your new baby's father or anything else you choose. Some caveats, though... ============================= By the way, speaking of changing last names... After getting married, many people choose to change their last name. Some take on their spouse's last name, and some combine last names (either by hyphenating or making their maiden name their middle name). Notice that it says spouse, meaning that someone can take his/her wife or husband last name. Different of Brazil, for instance, where just the wife takes her hubby´s last name. ====================== I never been to America, so I advise to learn the local laws, since some laws differ from state to state. As you can see in the report you chanced to read, the one of the baby last name. |
