For this rather old-fashioned way of saying that one can eat as much as they please, I would say in English "sardines - all you can eat".
Regarding funny translations, I once saw on the menu of an expensive restaurant: "frutos do mar" translated as "sea fruit".
More recently, on the menu of another, I saw:
1) "meia garrafa" (half-size bottle of wine), translated as "stocking bottle".
2) "vinho importado" (imported wine), translated as "mattered wine".
