Mensagem:  Hi Miguel, I still prefer my old Franklin LM-6000 because I'm more used to it and the batteries last a lot longer than the ECTACO's. The ECTACO is a nice piece of electronics and has the advantage of showing the phonetic transcription on its large LCD. One serious drawback however is that it doesn't have adverbial derivations. For example, if you look up the word "especially", the closest you get is "especial". Even noun derivations like "misconception" and adjective derivations like "unsuccessful", the ECTACO unfortunately doesn't have in its data base. For a normal user, considering the huge difference in price, I would recommend the Franklin LM6000B or the newer SCD-1870 Merriam-Webster, which I still haven't seen. The dream speaking dictionary is still to be made. It would be the ECTACO with the same Merriam-Webster data base that the Franklin uses (or an improved one), costing half the price or less. Regards, Ricardo - EMB
