Mensagem:  Yes, they have the same meaning. We also say "She's single." when talking about girls or women. A woman who is older and never married is often called "an old maid" (but not to her face). The word used for a woman older than the usual age for getting married but not yet married is "spinster" but I would never let spinster hear me refering to her as either a spinster or an old maid. Either one would get me a black eye, I'm sure.
