Thanks Fran, but maybe I was not clear about my question, I can't understand yet! I'll try to ask you another way: When you say "I met him by chance" or "I met him by accident", are you saying "Eu o encontrei por acaso" or "Eu o conheci por acaso"? In my understanding, it seems you are saying "Eu o encontrei por acaso". In other words, you're talking about someone you already know, am I right? So that's what I can't understand... Why is it right to say "I met him by chance" but wrong to say "I met my friend yesterday when I was shopping"? |
