Thanks for your answer. This definition is related to the theme of skydiving, it fits better. However, it is a noun and it doesn't fit either to the sentence. How does a part of a parachute could be a characateristic of  pilot?
And why you cross the word pilot?  It is a real sentence.  It was taken from the article below.
